Police: Boy Arrested, Facing Charges In Gunshot Fired Inside Ben Franklin High School

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia police have arrested a boy in connection with an incident at a high school in the Spring Garden section of the city in which a gun was fired inside a stairwell during school hours.

Police say officers responded to call for shots fired inside Benjamin Franklin High School on North Broad Street near Spring Garden Street just before noon Friday.

One .45 caliber cartridge casing was found inside a stairwell, but no weapon was located.

The school was placed on lockdown until it was deemed safe.

Police say there was a confrontation among a group of students and a gun was discharged.

No one was injured.

Police say a boy was arrested early Saturday and will be charged.
