Police: Body Found In Jersey Shore Inlet Likely Missing Teen

NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a body found in a southern New Jersey inlet is likely that of a 16-year-old boy who went missing while swimming this week.

North Wildwood police said they received a call shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday reporting that a body was floating in the Hereford Inlet. It was removed from the water a short time later.

Officials have not yet identified the body.

But they say it matches the description of a teenager who was last seen struggling in the water on Tuesday. Rescuers tried to reach the boy but were unsuccessful.

The teen's name has not been released.
