Police Arrest Suspect In Union League Theft
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Wednesday night, Philadelphia Police announced the arrest of the suspect wanted in connection with the stolen brass railing from outside the Union League in Center City Philadelphia.
The announcement came on Twitter on Wednesday night.

Earlier Wednesday, authorities identified the suspect as 50-year-old Reginald Phillips. His last known address was at 3100 North Broad Street. He's the guy police say is in the surveillance video. from 3:00 a.m. Monday, seen carrying a 6-foot section of the curbed brass railing after yanking it from its moorings on the Union League steps.
"He actually took a piece to a scrapyard and sold it there," said Police Lieutenant John Stanford. "And we actually were able to recover a portion of that, and that was returned."
Stanford says damage to the historic staircase is estimated at $100,000. The Union League is working on replacing the railing.
