Police Arrest One, Searching For Second Suspect In Home Invasion Robberies

by Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have one man in custody, and they're looking for a second in connection with a string of home invasion robberies targeting Asian businesses.

Detectives say the robbers targeted 13 Asian businesses with apartments above them, mostly in West and North Philadelphia between May and August.

Residents were tied up and terrorized while the robbers got away with thousands in cash.

"Usually there was force through a rear door. The offenders made entry. They would ransack the first level, taking items, and then make their way upstairs to the apartments that are normally over top of these restaurants," said Police Inspector James Smith.

Most of the home invasions happened between 3 and 5 a.m. There were no serious injuries.

One of the suspects, 29-year-old Norman Bowen, was arrested Friday. He had already been taken in on a parole violation.

Police want the public to give any information they have on the whereabouts of 33-year-old Anthony Campbell. He's from the 100 block of North Dewey Street in West Philadelphia.

Detectives are not commenting on the relationship between Bowen and Campbell. Anyone with info is urged to call 215-686-TIPS.
