Police: Arrest Made After Accidental Gun Discharge Inside Cherry Hill Office Building

CHERRY HILL, N.J., (CBS) – Cherry Hill Police say an arrest has been made after an accidental gun discharge inside a high rise office building.

At 12:04 p.m. Friday, police responded to the report of a man with a weapon in the lobby of The One Cherry Hill Building, located on the parking lot of the Cherry Hill Mall complex.

Police determined that a single shot had been fired from a weapon inside the lobby.  Witnesses stated that a male with a small handgun then exited the building and entered a vehicle.

A short time later, police stopped a vehicle with a male driver matching the description. The driver was identified and arrested at that time. Police say a handgun was also recovered from the vehicle.

Police say the subsequent investigation revealed that the discharge of the weapon was accidental.

Corye Johnson, 33, of Camden faces the following charges: Possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of hollow point bullets.

Johnson has been remanded to Camden County jail in default of $102, 500.00 bail    .

No one was injured.
