Police: 911 Operator Tipped Off Suspect That Authorities Had Been Called

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS)—A city of Wilmington 911 operator was arrested after it was revealed she tipped off a suspect that police had been called.

An investigation revealed that on January 9th, Alleshia Kennedy purposely did not put information from a 911 call reporting shots fired into the dispatch system.

She then allegedly communicated with a suspect and informed him authorities has been called.

Detectives took Kennedy into custody on January 27th. She was arraigned and released after posting $6,000 bail.

She is currently restricted from Wilmington Police Headquarters by court order and her status as an employee will be determined by an internal review process.
