Police: 91-Year-Old Woman's Purse, Car Stolen While She Was Grocery Shopping

NEWARK, Del., (CBS) -- Delaware State Police are searching for the suspect who they say stole a 91-year-old woman's purse and car keys while she was grocery shopping.

It happened Thursday at about 3:15 p.m. as she was shopping at Shoprite at 37 Chestnut Hill Plaza in Newark.

Investigators say the suspect followed the woman around the store and removed her purse from her shopping cart. The purse contained an undisclosed amount of cash and car keys.

Surveillance video captured the suspect leaving the store and driving away in the victim's vehicle, according to investigators.

The victim's vehicle is described as a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, silver in color, four door, white wall tires and silver rims. Vehicle displays Delaware Registration #133567. Investigators say the vehicle has not been recovered.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 20-to-30 years of age, 5'06"-5'08" tall, 190-220 pounds, with a large build. He was last seen wearing a dark zippered hooded sweatshirt with "ECKO UNLTD", and gray sweat pants.
