Police: 5-Year-Old Boy Left On School Bus For 4 Hours

NEWARK, Del., (CBS) – Delaware State Police say a five-year-old boy was left on a school bus for more than four hours in Newark on Wednesday.

Police say the boy was picked up around 8:30 a.m. for school at the Christiana Early Education Center.

When the bus arrived to the school on the 600 block of East Chestnut Hill Road, police say the five-year-old did not get off at the stop.

According to police, the bus driver and aide then drove back to the bus depot on Wyoming Road and parked the school bus.

Police say a different bus driver and aide returned to the school bus around 2 p.m. and found the boy asleep.

The five-year-old was then taken to the school where police say he was check out by the school nurse and turned over to his mother.

The incident remains under investigation.
