Police: 3 Teens Rob Man At Gunpoint, Fire At Philly Officers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—Three teens are now in police custody after authorities say they robbed a man at gunpoint and fired a officers early Friday morning.

Authorities say a 21-year-old man was robbed around 1:30 a.m. at Lawndale and Luzerne Streets.

According to the victim, the suspects fled in a black colored pickup truck after stealing his wallet, $30 and a cell phone.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says they tracked the suspects near G Street & Hunting Park Avenue where a traffic stop was initiated. When the officer approached the vehicle the suspects took off at a high rate of speed, said Small.

Following a brief pursuit, officers were able to tack the suspects near Rise Sun Avenue. When officers approached the suspects, one of the teen fired at officers, Small said.

The officers did not fire their weapons.

A 17-year-old, 18-year-old and 19-year-old were all apprehended.

Small says officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun that was reportedly used to fire at officers.

No injuries to the 21-year-old were reported.

The teens are being charged with robbery, aggravated assault and other related offences.
