Police: Driver Killed, 2 Passengers Critically Injured After Losing Control, Crashing Into Tree On Kelly Drive

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A driver was killed and two others were critically injured after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a tree on Kelly Drive Wednesday morning. Police say the fatal accident happened on Kelly Drive near the Falls Bridge just after 10:00 a.m.

Chopper 3 was over the scene as firefighters used the "jaws of life" to cut the victims from a white vehicle.

The impact of the crash left the car's engine and wheels on the roadway.

Police say 35-year-old Paul Young, who was driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead on the scene. The 26-year-old front passenger, identified as Scott Ball, suffered severe leg injuries and is in critical condition.

A 36-year-old rear seat passenger was also transported to an area hospital in critical condition. His name has not been released at this time.
