Police: 2 Women Struck By Lightning On Point Pleasant Beach

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. (CBS) – Officials say two women are hospitalized after being struck by lightning in two separate incidents.

The first incident occurred around 2:53 p.m. Saturday at New Jersey Avenue on the Point Pleasant Beach in Ocean County, NJ.

Authorities say a 63-year-old woman suffered injuries, but was conscious when she was transported from the scene.

The second incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. less than 10 minutes later. At that time, police say a 54-year-old woman was sitting in her car on the 300 block of Ocean Avenue when she was struck.

Both victims were transported to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, New Jersey.
