Police: 18-Year-Old Shoots Horse Pulling Buggy With BB Gun

MEYERSDALE, Pa. (AP) — State police have charged an 18-year-old Pennsylvania man with using a BB gun to shoot a horse that was pulling a buggy, endangering its passenger, a couple and their 1-year-old child.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Caleb Gotjen, of Garrett. A woman who answered his home telephone Monday says he doesn't want to comment on charges of reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Police filed the charges over the weekend, but the incident occurred Oct. 4 in Summit Township, Somerset County.

Police say Gotjen was in a vehicle when he shot the horse as he drove by.

The animal wasn't injured, but police say the animal was startled, putting the passengers, Marie and Marvin Yoder, and their child, in danger.
