Police: 13-Year-Old Boy Dies Following Shooting In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police have announced that a teenage boy has died following a shooting that took place on Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place in the city's Germantown section.

Crews responded to the scene around 5:20 p.m. where a 13-year-old boy was found shot in the face. The boy was found on the 5300 block of E. Walnut Lane.

Officials say the boy was shot one time in the head and was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities announced that the boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:00 p.m.

Police say that several juveniles were playing with a gun in the backyard of the property when the teenage boy was shot in the face.

Detectives are looking to find out exactly what happened as they attempt to trace where the gun came from.

Officials say that they have recovered the gun that they believe was used in the incident.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
