Podcast: Breaking Down Villanova's Matchup And Temple's Snub

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- There will be just one City-6 team for local fans to follow in this year's NCAA Tournament. The Villanova Wildcats are the No. 1 seed in the East Region and they will open things up on Thursday as they take on the No. 16 seed in the region, Lafayette, the champions of the Patriot League.

Villanova is 32-2 and they won the Big East Tournament. Last season Villanova was a No. 2 seed in the East Region and they beat Milwaukee in their first game before losing to eventual national champion UConn in the third round.

Lafayette is 20-12 and the Leopards are coached by a familiar name in Philadelphia basketball circles, Fran O'Hanlon. He is a Philadelphia native and a Villanova product.

Temple was on the bubble with a 23-10 record and that bubble burst as they were left out of the field for this year's NCAA Tournament. Instead, Fran Dunphy's squad will have to settle for the NIT and the Owls will open play in that on Wednesday at home against Bucknell.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Josh Verlin of cityofbasketballlove.com about Villanova's match-up and what to make of Temple being left out of the field.
