Please Touch Museum Receives Multi-Million Dollar Donation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Please Touch Museum is working to pull itself out of bankruptcy.

The popular children's museum is getting a much needed boost.

Donations have poured in from those who want to see the museum stay open.

In some cases it is a few dollars here or there, but in one case someone gave more than $3 million.

Today, Lynn McMaster, the current CEO, announced a multi-million dollar anonymous donation.

"Today is a red letter day for the institution."

Some $3.25 million pledged to help get the museum out of bankruptcy, pushing the total raised to $4.86 million.

"We are announcing we are almost halfway to the midpoint of our $10 million fundraising campaign."

When complete, the campaign would allow the Please Touch Museum to keep its doors open for families and children.

"Donations have come from individuals who believe in our institution and believe we have a fortune here."

In addition to announcing the multi-million dollar donation, museum officials also announced a new CEO. Her name is Patricia Wellenbach, and she will take over in early 2016.
