Plane Removed From Mud At New Castle Airport

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) --  A flight headed to Florida ended up in a muddy situation Sunday night at New Castle Airport.

Frontier Airlines says around 9:30 p.m. during initial taxi, flight 1435 from Wilmington, Delaware to Orlando, Florida partially exited the taxiway and got stuck in some mud.

Both the nose gear and right main gear sank with the engine hanging just a few feet from the ground.

The airline says all riders and crew members were safely deplaned and provided hotel rooms as needed.

Passengers boarded a second flight to Orlando Monday afternoon.

A statement from Frontier Airlines reads in part: 'The safety of our customers and crew is always our first priority and Frontier is cooperating with local and federal authorities in investigating what occurred.'

Frontier says there were 105 passengers, five crew members, two pilots and three FAs on board.

Crews tonight used an airbag to lift a portion of the plane, freeing it up just enough to tow it back on to pavement.
