PHS Hosts Another Herbal Happy Hour

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Not sure what to cook for dinner? Ready for a happy hour? Head to 'A Pinch of This, A Teaspoon of That: Cooking and Living Well with Herbs' class from 5:30 to 7 tonight, Wednesday June 25, at the College of Physicians.

This is the second in a series of herbal happy hours from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and tonight you'll find out how herbs have been used for centuries not only to add flavor to food but also for health and healing.

Learn to add herbs and their nutritional punch to all kinds of meals and beverages. Plus, how to preserve the herbs you grow this summer as powders, vinegars, and even tinctures (hey I've never made a tincture have you?) so you'll have plenty on hand all year.

The cost is $25 or $20 for PHS members, including wine, cheese and a cocktail concocted with fresh-picked infusions from the herb garden at the College of Physicians on 22nd Street just south of Market - be there today by 5:30.

Visit PennHort.Net for details or call 215.988.1698.
