PHOTO: Former Sixer Evan Turner to Celebrate His 'Gran's' 100th Birthday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- When asked if we wanted a picture of Evan Turner with his 100-year-old great grandmother, how could we say no?

Here's what we're told about "Gran":

Vater Mae Fite (maiden name Conners): Evan's great-grandmother, affectionately called "Gran," was born in Texas and worked as a welder during World War II. Vater became an artist at age 65 and her work has been displayed around Oak Park, IL. She taught herself how to play the violin at age 84. She's an avid reader and traveler who obtained her first passport at age 97. Vater only stopped traveling abroad in the past year. She comes from a family of people who live long lives. She still has vibrant conversations on the phone with her 96-year-old brother, Leon Conners.

Happy birthday Gran and miss you Ev!
