Philly Soccer Show: Surging Union Will Have Hands Full Saturday At Sounders

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a big win, the Philadelphia Union face a tough opponent and a long road trip as they head to Seattle to face the Sounders this Saturday, and the KYW Philly Soccer show gets you ready for it.

KYW's Greg Orlandini and CBS-3's Kevin Kinkead talk with Matt Pentz, Sounders beat writer for the Seattle Teams.

 

The Sounders are in some uncharted territory as they sit at the bottom of the Western Conference.  Matt talks about the departure of the star forward Obafmi Martins and how it has impacted the Seattle.  He also discusses tha addition of high profile rookie Jordan Morris.  The Stanford grad had flirted with a move to a European team before signing with Seattle, and has stuggled a bit int he early going this season.

Then, Greg and Kevin talk about the Union's big 2-1 home win against Orlando City last Friday.  It was a back and forth affair with Tranqillo Barnetta's amazing free kick proving to the late winner in the dying moments of the match.  The win puts the Union in a tie for first place in the East with three wins and nine points in the standing.  CJ Sapong also scored in the match giving him a team-leading 3 goals on the year.
