Philly Soccer Show: Team USA Presses on to Round of 16

By Greg Orlandini

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) --   The USA has made it through!

Despite a 1-0 loss to Germany in the final group game (see story and photos), the Yanks make it to the Round of 16 in the World Cup for the second straight tournament.

Today, KYW Newsradio's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch sit down with Kevin Kinkead of CBS-3 and soccer.ly.

Jurgen Klinsmann's men now have to prepare for the star-studded Belgium team, whom many picked before to the Cup to go deep in the competition.

---

We then shift over to the Philadelphia Union, who have made it to the quarter-finals of the US Open Cup with an ugly home win over the New York Cosmos of the NASL.

The win saw three late red cards, including one to Philly's Michael Lahoud.

The team returns to MLS action this Saturday as they travel to the New England Revolution, a team that thrashed the Union at home in their last meeting at PPL Park, 5-3 (see game story).
