Philly Soccer Show: Steven Vitoria A Building Block in Union's 2015 Plans

By Greg Orlandini

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union preseason is in full swing, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show catches you up on the latest information!

In today's round-table talk, KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined by CBS-3's Kevin Kinkead and Dave Zeitlin, Union beat writer for mlssoccer.com.

We talk about the team's latest acquisition, Canadian-born defender Steven Vitoria (at left in photo).  The 6'-5" Vitoria comes over on loan from famed Portuguese team Benfica, and looks to fill the spot left by departing defender Carlos Valdes.

We discuss how this moves will allow Maurice Edu to play in his preferred midfield position instead of in defense.  We also look at the team's other needs, including depth at forward and at left back.
