Philly Soccer Show:   Andrew Wenger Joins The Union

By Greg Orlandini

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Lots of news in the world of soccer this week, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show keeps you on top of it!

KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined this week by new Philadelphia Union forward Andrew Wenger.

The Lancaster County native came to the Union from the Montreal Impact, in exchange for fellow forward Jack McInerney.

Wenger, whose last game as a member of the Impact was at PPL Park (where he saw a straight red card for a hard tackle on Vincent Nogueira), says he looks forward to slotting into the forward spot vacated by McInerney.

We then discuss some goings-on at US Soccer.   The men's team walked away with a 2-2 draw against Mexico last week, in Arizona, where Union midfielder Maurice Edu made an appearance for the Red, White, and Blue.

And the women's team made news as well, with the firing of their head coach, Tom Sermanni. The Scot had only been at the helm for about a year before being canned.
