Philly Police Officers Hailed Heroes for Saving Family In Burning Frankford Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—Four Philadelphia Police officers are being hailed as heroes after a homeowner said they jumped into action to save his family when his home went up in flames on Tuesday morning.

The two-alarm fire happened sometime around 1:30 a.m. in the 4800 block of Mulberry Street.

A homeowner tells CBS 3's Jan Carabeo that he was getting a glass of water when he saw the initial flames.

Seconds later the homeowner reports that one officer—who was on patrol in the area—saw the flames as well, and rushed in to save his family.

The family of six all escaped the fire uninjured.

Authorities say the blaze started in the garage in the rear of the home.

The case of the fire remains under investigation.
