Philly Police Offer Tips On What To Do In An Active Shooter Situation
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Following the tragic mass shooting in Orlando that left 49 victims dead and dozens more injured, Philadelphia Police tweeted some tips on what to do if you ever find yourself in an active shooter situation.
- Always be aware of your environment and any possible dangers.
- Take note of the two nearest exits in any facility you visit.
- If you are in an office, stay there and secure the door.
- Attempt to take down an active shooter as a last resort.
Police say some of the characteristics of an active shooter situation are the victims are selected at random, the event is unpredictable and escalates quickly and law enforcement is usually required to end it.
