Charred Remains Found Behind Building In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating the discovery of a dead body.

The body was discovered on the 2100 block of East Allegheny Avenue near the railroad tracks just before 8 o-clock Friday morning.

Police say they can't determine the gender of the victim because the body has been burned, and the person was not carrying any identification.

Authorities spent several hours investigating an alleyway.

A k-9 unit was also combing through the alley.

Many neighbors are in shock.

One woman says the area is near where her grandchildren play every day.

"I'm devastated and fearful about what could happen in the future. To see something like this is very, very devastating."
