Philly Pizza Driver Opens Fire On 2 Suspects In Set Up Robbery: Police

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—A pizza delivery driver, who police say was lured into a Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood, opened fire on two men who tried to rob him on Saturday night.

It happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Wellington Street.

Police say the pizza delivery driver, 52, walked up to a dark house and was grabbed by two men from behind where they stole $82.

The victim, who was licensed to carry, opened fire on the robbers—striking one of them in the ankle during their escape.

Plain clothes officers were able to track the two suspects to a nearby home where they were arrested.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he's listed in stable condition.

Police say there have been a pattern of robberies in this area involving pizza delivery personnel.

Investigators say the arrested suspects may be connected to other crimes.
