Phillies Trade Jesse Biddle To Pirates

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies have traded pitcher Jesse Biddle to the Pirates for right-hander Yoervis Medina, the team announced on Wednesday.

Medina, 27, is 10-9 with a 3.08 ERA in 146 career major league games for the Seattle Mariners and Chicago Cubs.

Biddle, who is from Philadelphia and Germantown Friends School, was designated for assigment on Friday giving the Phils 10 days to trade, release, or waive him.

The 24-year-old left-handed pitcher will miss the entire 2016 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
