Phillies Sign Odubel Herrera Through 2021

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies announced a move on Thursday afternoon to secure their centerfield spot for the foreseeable future. Odubel Herrera has agreed to a contract that will keep him in pinstripes through the 2021 season.

The contract includes team options for 2022 and 2023.

Herrera, a Rule 5 pick in 2014, made his first All-Star team in 2016. He hit .286 with 21 doubles and 15 home runs. Herrera also added 25 stolen bases.

Since joining the team, Herrera leads the Phillies in batting average, OPS, hits, runs, doubles, stolen bases and total bases.
