Phillies Recall Cody Asche From Triple-A

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies have recalled Cody Asche from Lehigh Valley (AAA), the team announced on Friday. Outfielder Grady Sizemore has been designated for assignment to make room for Asche.

The Phillies optioned Asche to Triple-A in order to transition him to left-field and call up 22-year-old third baseman Maikel Franco.

Franco is 12-51 (.235) with two home runs and eight RBI's in 13 games since joining the Phillies.

Asche, 24, was 26-106 (.245) in 30 games with the Phillies before being sent to Triple-A on May 11th.

The Phillies host the Rockies at 7:05 p.m. on Friday night. Asche will start in left-field and bat sixth.
