Phillies Place Asche On DL

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Prior to Sunday's game, the Philadelphia Phillies placed third baseman Cody Asche on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain, retroactive to May 23 the team announced.

Asche is hitting .258 with eight doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI in 40 games for the Phillies this season, but has been on a tear since the beginning of May. During the month, he has 19 hits, including five doubles and three home runs, along with 12 RBI in 60 at-bats.

To fill Asche's spot on the 25-man roster, right-hander Justin De Fratus was recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley. De Fratus began the season on the main roster and had a 7.20 ERA in four appearances before being optioned to Lehigh Valley on April 13.

Since 2011, De Fratus has gone 4-3 with a 3.93 ERA and .237 average against in 80 games for the Phillies.
