Phillies Pitcher Jeremy Hellickson Takes $17.2M Offer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jeremy Hellickson is reportedly accepting a qualifying offer of $17.2 million.

Last week, Hellickson was reportedly  "leaning against" accepting the qualifying offer.

The 29-year-old was acquired by the Phillies last off-season in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Hellickson went 12-10 with a 3.71 ERA in 32 starts this season, striking out 154 batters in 189 innings.

The deadline for teams to extend offers to eligible players is 5 p.m. on Monday.
