Phillies Open Key Homestand Tonight Vs. Miami
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies open an eight-game homestand tonight as they begin a four-game series with the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.
Ryne Sandberg's squad is coming off a 5-2 road trip through Atlanta and St. Louis. The Phillies actually started the trip with five straight wins before losing the last two games, including a 5-3 decision yesterday.
Roberto Hernandez will get the start for the Phillies. He is 3-5 this season with a 4.52 ERA. He picked up a win in his last start in Atlanta, allowing 5 runs in 6 innings of work in a 10-5 victory. This will be his third career appearance against the Marlins. He went 1-1 in the first two with a 1.72 ERA.
Right-hander Nate Eovaldi will start for the Marlins. He is 4-3 this season with a 3.76 ERA. In two starts against the Phillies this season, Eovaldi is 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA.
The Phillies are 34-40 heading into this one. They are five games out of first in National League East. The Marlins are 37-38.
