Phillies Hammered In Rubber Match Vs. Marlins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Phillies were shellacked on Wednesday afternoon in their rubber match against the Marlins in Miami.

After shutting out the Marlins 4-0 in game one of the series on Monday, the Phillies were held to just one run in the last two games, losing 11-1 on Wednesday. The lone Phillies' run came in the 9th inning on a Cesar Hernandez double, his third hit of the day.

The Phils are now 4-9 since the all-star break, losing all four series they've played.

Phillies starter Zach Eflin allowed nine hits, seven earned runs, and four walks in just five innings of work, getting the lost. Eflin, 22, falls 3-4 on the season with a 4.23 ERA.

For the Marlins, Adam Conley allowed eight hits but no runs in 6.2 innings. Conley improves to 7-5 on the season with a 3.38 ERA.

The Phillies' 1-2-3 hitters -- Hernandez, Odubel Herrera, and Maikel Franco -- each had multiple hit games.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, who struggled mightily against the Phillies earlier in the month, hit his 22nd homer of the season in the 5th inning off of Eflin. Stanton was 2-5 on the day with 2 RBI's and went 5-12 with a double, home run, and 4 RBI's in the series.

The Phillies (46-57) head to Atlanta to begin a four-game set with the Braves (34-66) on Thursday night.
