Phillies Pitcher Elniery Garcia Suspended 80 Games For PEDs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Phillies minor league pitcher Elniery Garcia has been suspended 80 games for performance enhancing drugs.

Garcia, 22, tested positive for Boldenone, the MLB announced on Friday.

Garcia is six-foot left-handed pitcher who spent last season with the Phillies' Single-A affiliate Clearwater Threshers.

Garcia is the Phillies' third pitcher to be suspended 80 games for PED use in just two years. The other two were Alec Asher and Daniel Stumpf in 2016.

In 2013, Antonio Bastardo was suspended, while Freddy Galvis and Carlos Ruiz (adderall) were suspended in 2012 and J.C. Romero was suspended in 2009.
