Phillies Claim Michael Mariot From Royals

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Phillies Vice President and General Manager Matt Klentak announced the team has claimed right-hander Michael Mariot off waivers from the Kansas City Royals.

Twenty-seven-year-old Mariot spent the majority of last season with triple-A Omaha, going 4-2 with a 2.32 ERA in 42 relief appearances.

 

He posted a 4.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio (72 SO, 16 BB) while averaging 10.45 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched (62.0 IP).

Mariot has appeared in 19 games for Kansas City over the last two seasons, going 1-0 with a 6.11 ERA, according to the Phillies.

The Phillies say they now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
