Phillies Acquire P Hellickson From D-Backs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies announced Saturday the they acquired right-hander Jeremy Hellickson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a minor league pitcher.

Hellickson, 28, went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts for the Diamondbacks last season. For his career, he is 49-48 with a 3.94 ERA in 142 games – mostly starts -- for the Rays and Diamondbacks (2015).

In exchange for Hellickson, the Phillies sent their eight round selection in the 2014 draft, Sam McWilliams, to Arizona.

McWilliams spent the last two seasons with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Phillies and went a combined 2-5 with a 4.19 ERA in 16 games.
