Phillies Claim Right-Hander A.J. Achter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Phillies have claimed right-handed pitcher A.J. Achter off waivers from the Minnesota Twins, the team announced Friday.

Achter, 27, was 4-2 with 14 saves and a 2.63 ERA in 43 games with Triple-A Rochester.

Furthermore, right-handed pitchers Jimmy Cordero, Edubray Ramos, and outfielder Roman Quinn had their contracts selected to the 40-man roster.

Cordero was acquired in the Ben Revere trade with the Toronto Blue Jays this past July. He posted a 2.55 ERA in 45 games (67.0 IP) this season in the minors.

Ramos, 22, spent 2015 in single-A Clearwater and Double-A Reading. He was 4-6 with a 2.07 ERA 47 relief appearances.

Quinn, 22, was the second round pick of the Phillies in 2011. Quinn batted .306 with six doubles, six triples, four home runs, 15 RBI and 44 runs in 58 games this season with Reading.
