Phillies Have Most 2016 Top 100 Prospects In MLB

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Contrary to popular belief, things are looking up for the Philadelphia Phillies.

On Friday, MLBPipeline.com released their 2016 top 100 prospect list and seven Phillies' players popped up on the list -- more than any other team.

SS J.P. Crawford (5), RHP Jake Thompson (55), OF Nick Williams (64), RHP Mark Appel (70), OF Cornelius Randolph (84), C Jorge Alfaro (96), and OF Roman Quinn (99).

Thompson, Williams, and Alfaro all came via the Cole Hamles trade, while Appel was acquired in the Ken Giles' deal.

While the Phillies lead the MLB with seven top 100 prospects in 2016, the Twins and Cubs each have six players on the list while seven other clubs have five a piece.

While the Phillies have seven total prospect among the top 100, Crawford is their only top-50 player. The Dodgers, in comparison, have three prospects in the top-24 and two in the top-four (Corey Seager and Julio Urias).
