Philadelphia's Papal Choir Staging Reunion

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The specially formed volunteer choir which sang during Pope Francis' mass on the Ben Franklin Parkway last month will be getting together for a reunion - and you're invited.

Father Dennis Gill, director of the office of divine worship for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, says the papal choir will stage a concert inside the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Monday at 7:30 p.m.:

"What we hope to do that evening is to remember the great event here in the archdiocese - the papal Mass - and sing again the music that assisted everyone to worship so beautifully that Sunday."

He says it's going to be a memorable night.

"These 500 people did a magnificent job. And, we'll never tire of hearing them and here's an opportunity once again to hear them help us praise the Lord."

And, Gill says, the choir also has recorded a keepsake CD called "Sound the Bell" containing music selections from the Mass, including the World Meeting of Families official hymn "Sound the Bell of Holy Freedom."

The CD is available for download or purchase from the cathedral website.
