Philadelphia's Good Old War Comes Home For The Holidays

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In front of a background of golden glowing lights, Good Old War took the stage on Friday night at Union Transfer. The audience was littered with family members and confetti, as the Philadelphia band shot several cannon's worth above and onto the crowd.

Before the Philly folks took the stage, it was opener Sawyer Fredricks – who won NBC's The Voice last season, and has almost as much soul as he does hair. Very impressive for sixteen-years-old.

It's been a nice year to celebrate for Good Old War, releasing their fourth studio album this summer, Broken Into Better Shape. Their latest set found them a man down with drummer Tim Arnold leaving the band, and also found them jumping across the country to record – eventually landing in Nashville where it truly took shape.

Friday, they would show off their new batch of tunes to a delighted crowd, playing the new single "Tell Me What You Want From Me" through that haze of confetti to start the show. ""You guys look beautiful in the snow" said singer Keith Goodwin. "I love how confetti gets everybody pumped up. It gets me pumped up."

The night would continue with a mix of songs covering the course of their career. Goodwin along with guitarist Dan Schwartz came casual with mild manners and denim shirts. There is nothing about the duo that screams "rockstar", however when you hear their voices blend it's tough not to think of Simon & Garfunkel. Good Old War may have lost a member, but their harmony has stayed strong.

The night would come to a close with the band inviting Philadelphia singer-songwriter Ali Wadsworth up on stage for "Stay By My Side", and a happy crowd (some related) leaving with confetti in their hair and smiles on their faces.
