Philadelphia Will Be Open For Business On Monday
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A historic storm for Philadelphia as officials say the city got hit with 22.4 inches of snow this weekend. In addition, it's been less than a month on the job for Mayor Jim Kenney. In an update Sunday morning at the office of emergency management, he said the city will be open for business tomorrow.
"First, I want to start off by thanking the citizens of the city for heeding the warnings and cooperating with us," he said.
Despite the heavy snowfall over the weekend, Mayor Kenney says the city will be open for business Monday morning.
"Get back to business. It's what we're all about," Kenney said. "Mother nature threw us this curve ball, she does that now and then, and I think we responded quite well."
He thanked the army of city workers who have been going hard around the clock to get roads and sidewalks cleared.
"They were not hesitating. They were taking 15 minute cat naps then back on the trucks and plows, hauling salt, fixing cars."
Kenney says it's important to look after your neighbors and take it easy while shoveling. He also reminds everyone not to dump snow into the street, as it just makes plowing efforts that much more difficult.
