Mild weather around Philadelphia Tuesday, more arctic air and rain-snow mix later in the week
Tuesday brings mostly sunny conditions and milder weather, with highs in the mid to upper 40s to near 50 and a light southwest wind. Skies will cloud up at night, meaning we stay mild with overnight lows in the 40s.
NEXT big weather change
Midweek stays somewhat unsettled as a storm system approaches late Wednesday into early Thursday. We've issued a NEXT Weather Alert for Thursday and Friday due to the dramatic drop in temperatures that will follow an arctic cold front.
That arctic blast will bring a quick-hitting burst of rain changing to snow. The precipitation is mainly limited to between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
On Thursday, very cold and windy weather will follow the front. While any snow will move out likely before the morning drive, temperatures will peak around midnight Thursday and then rapidly plummet throughout the day, falling into the 20s by afternoon with wind chills in the teens and single digits Friday morning.
A second blast of arctic air arrives on Sunday with the chance for a few scattered snow showers.
