Philadelphia Officials Announce Launch Of 24-Hour Violence Prevention Hotline

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The City of Philadelphia has unveiled a new 24-hour violence prevention hotline.
Residents can dial 2-1-1 for help and prevent violence in their neighborhoods.
"This 24-hour violence prevention hotline will help us reduce the likelihood of individuals engaging in violence by offering real-time access to critical violence prevention and intervention services and help residents of neighborhoods experiencing high levels of violence connect with help to address quality of life issues as well as trauma resulting from persistent gun violence," Mayor Jim Kenney said.
City officials say the hotline unveiled on Monday, which is confidential, doesn't replace 911.
People should still continue to call 911 to report emergencies.
