Philadelphia Students Join Interactive Art Project
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia high school students are lending their views and voices to an interactive exhibit at the Moore College of Art and Design.
Quran Kelly, an eleventh grader at Philadelphia's U. School, stood before a series of defaced Donald Trump portraits, part of the faculty exhibition at Moore.
"Power's in the people, not the politics. It was all fun and games at first, but now I'm over it."
His recorded words are included in a community-generated audio tour that viewers can hear through the CultureSpots app.
"Even if they are with Trump, I feel like it will spark a conversation of why this was done," said Matt Kalasky, the Education and Community Engagement Coordinator for The Galleries at Moore.
He said beginning the conversation is the point.
"The authority usually lies in an expert at the museum or the gallery. So, it's to place that authority back into the art viewers. In this case, a group of high school students."
The "Art Crush Audio Tour Project" starts Friday, October 14 and runs through December 10. Admission is free.
