12-year-old boy recovering after double shooting near his home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 12-year-old boy and another man were shot in Philadelphia's Point Breeze section Thursday night, police said. The shooting happened on the 2300 block of Tasker Street at around 8:30 p.m.

Police said the 12-year-old was shot in his lower back while riding his mountain bike not far from his home. He was transported to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia by police and placed in stable condition. 

The second victim, a 30-year-old man, was also shot once in the leg. He then jumped in his car and police found him about 4 blocks away from the scene and took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He was placed in stable condition.

"We found 10 spent shell casings, large caliber at 24th and Tasker. We found an additional four spent shell casings in the middle of the block in the 2300 block of Tasker. ... just feet away from where the 12-year-old was struck and fell off of his mountain bike," Philadelphia police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Police said no weapons were recovered and no arrests were made.
