Person of interest wanted in connection to multiple shootings, robberies in Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police need your help to find a 19-year-old who is a person of interest in multiple shootings and robberies across the city.

Brian Amerman has an active warrant for a probation violation from 2022 for charges, including simple assault, and police say he is armed and dangerous.

Officials say Amerman is wanted in connection with several robberies in a span of nine days. Three of them were at a Bank of America ATM in the Roosevelt Plaza shopping center on the 6500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard.

"My husband works here at this Rent-A-Center and it's very uncomfortable," Kayla Keno said. "It's very unsettling."

Back on May 17 around noon, police say Amerman attempted to rob a 43-year-old man who had just taken money out of the ATM. Hitting him over the head with a gun and stealing his money and car.

Later that same night, police found a 53-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and leg near the same ATM. Police believe Amerman is involved.

Many who frequent the shopping center worry the ATMs set up in the back of the parking lot next to the Boulevard are putting customers at risk.

"To me, it doesn't make any sense so that could be why it is an easy target cause it's just kind of there," Keno said.

Police also say Amerman is connected to two shootings along the 2800 block of Amber Street in Port Richmond. One of the shootings left a 22-year-old man in critical condition.

CBS News Philadelphia reached out to Bank of America about any safety changes being considered at that Roosevelt Boulevard ATM, we have yet to hear back.

Anyone with information on Amerman is asked to call Philadelphia police.
