Man, teen killed during attempted sale of Rolex in Philadelphia's Germantown section, police say

Shooting in Germantown leaves 30-year-old man and 16-year-old boy dead, police say

A man and a teenager are dead after Philadelphia police said they were killed in an attempted robbery in Germantown Tuesday night.

Police say Tyree Ware, 30, and Quaneef Lee, 16, were shot and killed in the 500 block of West Queen Lane, near Laurens Street, around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Ware met the teen and an unidentified male at the scene after he advertised selling a Rolex watch online, according to police.

Investigators believe the shooting is connected to the attempted sale of the watch.

Police found Ware next to the driver's door of a 2016 silver Nissan Maxima with multiple gunshot wounds. Lee was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at the rear of the same car.

Both Ware and Lee were rushed to Temple University Hospital, where they both later died.

Police said a 9mm handgun was found on the road next to Ware.

Police have not made any arrests yet and have not identified a shooter.

The double shooting remains under investigation by the department's homicide unit.

Editor's note: Police initially reported that one of the shooting victims was a man, not a teen.
