Philadelphia Safety Summit Tackles Abuse In A Cyber World

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The 2nd Annual Safety Summit for Women and Children was held Saturday in West Philadelphia.

The summit at the High School for the Future broke down into sessions on fighting abuse and taking care of children in a cyber world.

Monique Turner, a behavior specialist, works with a number of agencies.

"I work with a lot of children who see abuse in their homes," she said. "I'm getting information on how to help them understand that it's not their fault, and that they can talk to people, they can help them and help their parents get out of whatever the situation is."

Agencies represented at the summit included Women Against Abuse, Women Organized Against Rape, and Menergy, a support group aimed at changing the behavior of abusers.
