Philadelphia Police Officer Charged With Assault, Endangering The Welfare Of A Child

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia police lieutenant likely will lose his job after he was arrested and charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and resisting arrest.

Authorities say George Holcombe was off-duty at the time of an argument with the mother of his children. Officials say he threatened her and struggled with the responding officers.

Forty-two-year-old Holcombe is a 23-year veteran of the department. He was assigned to the Neighborhood Services unit.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Holcombe for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
