Philadelphia Police Officer Arrested, Charged With Assaulting Woman

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested and is facing assault charges, authorities said on Tuesday.

Officials said 48-year-old Officer Joseph Sees was taken into custody on Thanksgiving Day by Bensalem Police.

Police said Sees was involved in an off duty, domestic physical altercation with a woman who sustained injuries to her face, including a possible broken nose. Authorities said they were notified by neighbors who heard the incident unfold.

Officer Sees was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Harassment.

He is a 17-year veteran of the Department, assigned to the 15th District.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Sees for thirty days with the intent to dismiss.
